Sporting Events

Children enjoy participating in school and wider partnership events.  Below are just a few examples of events we participate in annually.

Participation in Partnership and County Competitive Sporting Events

Quad Kids

For the first time this year our Athletes from Year 3 and 4 were joined by the athletes in upper KS2. The children put a great deal of practise into their events and even gave up their lunchtimes for additional training. Their hard work paid off as both sets of children coasted to victory and completed a clean sweep against the 10 partnerships schools. The children then moved onto the West Oxon Finals with Year 3 and 4 once again beating all the competition and finishing as winners, a truly amazing achievement. Year 5 and 6 just missed out by 24 points in joining them at the county finals, finishing on 1520 points a tiny fraction behind The Batt School. Today the 3 and 4 team went one step further and managed to secure a medal place at the county finals at Tilsley Park. It was a superb day with many proud parents there in attendance. The children secured third place out of the ten best schools in Oxfordshire. We are very proud of their performances. This comes after we our Year 5/6 team finished 6th place out of more than the 230 primary schools that took part in the indoor athletics. We certainly have some great athletes at Woodstock Primary.

Swimming Gala
The annual Swimming Gala is a fantastic opportunity for our Year 6 pupils to let off some steam after the completion of their SATs. They performed fantastically on the day and won the partnership tournament qualifying for the West Oxfordshire finals where they struggled to be as dominant but still performed magnificently.

Year 2 Olympics
Our Year 2 children have the opportunity to have the afternoon at The Marlborough where they were introduced to a variety of skills sessions which was dubbed ‘The Year 2 Olympics’. The children always have a great afternoon, and it was a good introduction to healthy interschool competition for them.

Year 5/6 Cricket
Our Year 5/6 Cricket team competed at the partnership cricket event and once again put on a real show of cricketing prowess. They played their first seven games and swept away the opposition in each of them and got to the final with a 100% record. It was set up perfectly for a showcase finale against Stonesfield who had also played superbly. The boys fell just short losing agonisingly by 10 runs, but one again we were remarkably proud of their performance, and we wished Stonesfield good luck in the county final.
