Y5/6 Evolution Workshop

In science lessons we have been learning about evolution and inheritance, and this week we visited the Oxford University Museum of Natural History for an  Evolve, Adapt and Survive workshop as well as a tour of the museum. Through close observation and handling of specimens, children explored how animals have evolved to adapt to survive in their particular habitats. We looked at Charles Darwin and Alfred Russel Wallace’s work on natural selection and examined some of the fossil evidence that reveals the history of life on our planet. Children touched real specimens, from elephant teeth and polar bear paws to huge python skins and gliding lizards.
