Reading for pleasure, amazing outfits and an overall celebration of books. It was an exciting day!

It was lovely to see the children arriving at school ready to celebrate reading. We enjoyed an early morning assembly where we met Merle from the Woodstock Bookshop, who shared with us some of the books that she would recommend for children to read and enjoy. She very kindly donated a selection of beautiful books to our school libraries, for all children to share and enjoy. Merle will be happy to help any of the children to choose books in the shop and has lots to recommend.

When asked for their highlights of the day, children named 3 clear winners:

• D.E.A.R- Drop Everything And Read-where everybody stopped whatever they were doing and had a read of their books.
• Buddy reading-where children were able to visit a different class and enjoy sharing books together.
• Dressing up as book characters- we listened, and the children really did arrive in their finest book character outfits! Well done to any grown up involved in hunting for dressing up bits and bobs. We saw so many creative costume ideas.
