To launch our Spring topic, many children dressed as explorers, animals of the rainforest or even the Amazon Rainforest itself. We prepared and tasted a chocolate and banana flapjack. Children worked in groups to research where cocoa and bananas (key ingredients in our flapjacks) come from and we looked into Fairtrade and Cocoa Life. Both of these are charities that aim to provide fair prices for farmers and promote sustainability. Children were introduced to our new class book, The Explorer, and sketched animals of the Amazon Rainforest.
