Music at Woodstock
Children at Woodstock Primary School enjoy a broad range of engaging music activities. Beginning in Reception, children have the opportunity to explore musical instruments in their rich continuous provision. As part of weekly music lessons in KS1, recorder lessons were introduced and soon became the highlight of the week! When children are in Year 3/4 they learn the clarinet as part of the Oxfordshire Music Service First Access programme. This is when they develop skills such as pitch notation, rhythm and performance techniques. In upper KS2, music lessons include composition sessions, lyric writing and addition percussion to backing tracks. Celebrating children’s musical talent is always encouraged and is often a feature of our Friday celebration assemblies.
In addition to the diverse music lessons that take place during school, children also had fun taking part in creative music activities during the lock down period.
