  • World Day of Prayer

The World Day of Prayer is a worldwide movement led by Christian woman of many traditions who call people together for a special day of prayer on the first Friday in March. More than 120 countries participate in an annual day of celebration which brings together people of various races, cultures and traditions sharing God’s word and worship. This year, we prayed for the people of Nigeria.

Children in Year 5 enjoyed a morning with the ladies from the churches in Woodstock, preparing resources for the service which included tasting traditional Nigerian foods, decorating stones with positive words and preparing headdresses to wear during the World Day of Prayer service, which took place at Mary Magdalen church on Friday 6 March. The service was an opportunity to reflect, celebrate, sing and share prayers for the people of Nigeria.

We were also very fortunate to learn more about the country of Nigeria from parents who came to share their Nigerian traditions and culture with the children.
