Our World - Picture News

Each week, throughout school, children have the opportunity to discuss and reflect on the weekly Picture News theme and resources, which include naturally occurring events or topical issues that are happening around the world.  The aims of this we hope will broaden the children’s geographical knowledge and understanding and the impact of such events can affect others. This links directly with building a strong moral compass for the children and encouraging them to be confident global citizens. Each week there is an Article or Articles of the week identified with reference to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child to embed the school's Rights Respecting ethos. Children know that their rights are universal, inherent, inalienable, unconditional and indivisible.

The resources are designed to provide opportunities for children to learn from our world and develop respect for other’s beliefs, feelings and faiths. They encourage exploration, discussion, challenge and inspire children to learn!  They also link to our Collective Worship theme of the week too.

You may wish to further talk about these events with your children at home.  Weekly updates are shared with parents via the Woodstock Weekly here.
